Stylish solar roofs that look like real tiles. Stunning designs

This business has done an incredible job in addressing one largely overlooked issue with residential solar panels: the aesthetics.

Let’s be honest, as much as it gets me excited to see solar panels popping up in residential houses, they are a little bit odd looking and out of place.

This is where solar tiles come in. Rather than large box shaped panels, this company has created individual tiles embedded with the same technology, and the outcome is pretty stunning:

Furthermore these tiles allow for full coverage of the roof in solar panels, making them more efficient and providing a higher capability to produce energy.

They come in a variety of appearances, some of which barely look like solar panels:

The company also covers energy storage, meaning excess energy can be used at night or on a rainy day. Their partner SolarEdge provide software for easy and smart monitoring of energy as well.

The tiles are waterproof and highly robust. They are certified as HW5 tiles, which are resilient to weather such as heavy hail. Customers also benefit from reduced risks associated with fires which come from traditional solar panels.

See how they have used design to maintain the traditional style of a roof:

John Morello from Australia came up with the idea of solar tiles while renovating his house in Switzerland. With his engineering background, he took it upon himself to create stylish solar panels for his own home, and later founded FreeSuns.
